What’s included — and what happens if you don’t get it

Every JWC course in Kuala Lumpur is all-inclusive. No equipment rental, no material surcharge, no “bring your own beans”.

  • All equipment and materials — machines, grinders, coffee, milk
  • Printed course notes plus your trainer’s own working notes
  • Free repeat classes — finish a module without feeling confident, and you come back and redo it at no extra cost

You only need to turn up. Most academies sell you a fixed number of hours. We would rather you leave able to do the job.

Class size: capped at 12

Kuala Lumpur classes are capped at 12 students, so everyone gets hands-on machine time instead of watching over someone’s shoulder. Combined with free repeats, that is the practical difference between “attended a course” and “can work a bar on Monday”.

The equipment you’ll train on

The KL campus runs Italian espresso machines with E61 group heads and commercial-grade grinders — the same class of gear used in working specialty cafés, not scaled-down training units. Students who train on domestic machines have to relearn everything on their first shift. Ours don’t: you graduate able to walk onto a professional bar and start immediately.

Certification, stated plainly

  • SCA Barista Skills Foundation — issued by the Specialty Coffee Association, internationally recognised. Available as a pathway after completing the 2-Month Coffee Weekend Course.
  • SKM Level 2 — Malaysia’s national skills certification, issued by JPK. Applies to the 9-Month Barista Work & Study programme. JWC is a registered Pusat Amali (practical training centre) within the JPK framework — JPK issues the certificate, not us.
  • BMART Diploma — awarded by West College Scotland (UK). NEIVCE is the delivering and external-verification institution, not the awarding body. Applies to the 12-month full-time programme only.
  • Certificate of Attendance — issued by JWC for weekend courses, one-day classes and workshops. It confirms you completed the class; it is not a qualification. Every certificate carries a number verifiable at jwcacademy.com/verify.

We are also an HRD Corp registered training provider — corporate courses can be claimed against your employer’s HRD Corp levy. The BMART Diploma is not HRDF-claimable.
