Is JWC Academy HRDF / HRD Corp claimable?
Yes — our barista, bartending, mocktail, sourdough, croissant and creative-media classes are HRD Corp claimable. We help your HR team through the application. See the full list of HRDF-claimable courses at jwcacademy.com/hrdf-claimable-courses/.
What’s the difference between the 12-Month BMART Diploma and the 2-Month Weekend Barista Course?
BMART is a 12-month full-time diploma (NEIVCE national diploma) for career baristas — coffee + mixology + pastry. The weekend course is a 2-month part-time intro covering espresso, brewing and latte art — ideal for hobbyists or working adults.
Who teaches at JWC Academy?
Our faculty includes Jason Loo (World Barista Championship 4th place), Foong & Nelson (World Coffee Championship judges), and other award-winning trainers. We were founded in 2009 and have trained 300+ baristas.
How long does barista training take at JWC Academy?
JWC Academy offers barista training across multiple durations: a 1-day taster (perfect for beginners), a 2-month weekend barista course (8 hands-on lessons), and a 12-month full-time BMART diploma (NEIVCE national diploma + 3-month industry attachment). Choose based on whether it’s a hobby or career goal.
What coffee certifications do you offer?
JWC Academy offers SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) certification as an optional add-on for our barista courses. Our full-time BMART diploma also awards the NEIVCE national diploma — a Malaysian government-recognised vocational qualification.
Do you offer coffee roasting classes?
Yes — JWC Academy offers coffee roasting classes for beginners and advanced students. You’ll learn green bean evaluation, roast profiling and machine roasting at our Bukit Jalil campus.
Is the barista course suitable for complete beginners?
Absolutely. Most of our students start with zero coffee experience. The 1-day coffee taster and weekend barista course are both designed beginner-first, with hands-on espresso pulls, milk steaming and latte art from day one.
Is there parking at the Bukit Jalil campus?
Yes — free parking is available at The Earth @ Bukit Jalil. Pavilion Bukit Jalil mall parking is also nearby for paid options.
Do you offer HRDF-claimable group training for cafés and F&B teams?
Yes — JWC Academy is HRD Corp registered. Café owners and F&B operators can claim our barista, bartending, mocktail, sourdough and creative-media classes under their HRDF levy. We guide your HR team through the application. See HRDF-claimable courses.
Do you offer classes in Johor Bahru?
Yes — JWC Academy runs classes in both Kuala Lumpur (Bukit Jalil) and Johor Bahru (Mount Austin, at The Factory 30). Same trainers, same syllabus. See the JB campus.
Do you offer 1-day taster classes for beginners?
Yes — JWC Academy offers 1-day hands-on coffee and mixology experiences for beginners. Perfect for trying before committing to a longer course. Book a slot.
