2-Month Coffee Weekend vs 9-Month W&S: Which One

Two coffee paths, often confused. Both are valid. They lead to very different places.

  1. Time commitment

Coffee Weekend — 2 months, Saturday classes, 8 sessions total. Built for working professionals and students.

W&S (Work-and-Study) — 9 months, full-time. Daytime café shifts at a partner venue, evening/scheduled coursework.

  1. Goal & intent

Weekend — hobbyists, home baristas, side-income explorers. You want to know enough to open a small café stall on weekends, or just make pro-level coffee at home.

W&S — career changers. You want to enter the coffee industry full-time.

  1. What you get

Coffee Weekend includes:

  • 8 systematic lessons covering both fundamentals and intermediate
  • Espresso, latte art, brewing — full pipeline
  • Optional SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) certification pathway
  • Course completion certificate

Pricing (all inclusive of SST):

  • Beginner course — RM 2,764.80
  • Advanced course — RM 4,147.20
  • 🎉 Bundle (both levels together) — RM 3,210.84 (regular RM 6,912 — over 50% off)

W&S includes:

  • 5-day pre-employment training
  • 9 months of full-time café work — salary paid by partner café
  • Accommodation provided at the Kuala Lumpur (Bukit Jalil) dormitory
  • Concurrent system courses + industry network access
  • W&S program certificate

W&S isn’t classroom-only. Coursework is embedded inside real café shifts. You learn fastest when the customer is watching.

  1. Who it actually fits

Weekend is for you if:

  • You have a job/studies you can’t pause
  • You want home-café quality, or to side-hustle
  • You’re not sure coffee is “the thing” yet

W&S is for you if:

  • You’re changing careers and serious about coffee
  • You can commit 9 months full-time
  • You need income while training (W&S provides salary + accommodation)

The decision framework

Two questions:

  1. Can you commit 9 months full-time? If no → Weekend.
  2. Is this a career or a hobby? If career → W&S.

Some students do Weekend first, then move into W&S with a foundational head start. That’s also a valid path.
